4th of July!

We had a busy and very enjoyable Fourth of July this year. We started out the day by heading to the lake for some boating. We left the house before 10 so we could get on the water before it got too busy. It was a beautiful day on the lake! It was hot and the wind was calm. We were having some issues with not being able to idle, making it difficult for people to ski. Carson, Travis and I were the only ones that got to ski (Christian was in the water ready to, but I couldn't get the boat to start and go into neutral), but the kids did lots of playing in the water and jumping off the boat! We got off the lake around 2 and headed home to get ready.

We were invited (by our neighbor Greg R.) to attend a Fourth of July celebration at his dad's house in Cowley that evening. There was a great pot luck with pulled pork sandwiches and hot dogs as the main dish. We sat with our friends, the Mangus', and enjoyed their company as we waited for the entertainment to start. Country singer, Aaron Tippin, was the entertainment for the evening. He was great to listen to and had some good stories. After the entertainment was over, they handed out back packs full of fireworks to the kids. I guess they normally give them to all kids, but because there were so many in attendance this year, they were trying to give out only one to each family. We made out with two back packs safety goggles for each of the boys and punks to light them off with. The boys were beyond excited! We hung out for a little while longer,  before we ran to the gas station to grab a drink and use the bathroom before heading to Daniel Robertson's house to watch the fireworks that Dave Rael puts on. It was an amazing fireworks show! We could feel the booms a few blocks away from where they were lighting them off!

There was lots of good candy for the kids!

The fireworks were a little bright!

I am thankful that we get to live in this great country and for all the men and women that have fought/fight for that! We truly live in a great place!
