Carving pumpkins

For family home evening last night, we finally carved our pumpkins. The boys picked their pumpkins from grandma Asay's garden a few weeks ago and were  really excited about getting to finally carve them. Earlier in the afternoon, we got on the computer and the boys each picked out the template they wanted to use on their pumpkins. I thought they picked some really good ones this year. Carson and Travis both did a great job this year of cleaning out their pumpkins all on their own. Landon...he really didn't want anything to do with cleaning out the guts.
All smiles as the cleaning began. Our pumpkins had been outside in the cold, so they were a little chilly to clean out by hand.

Travis thought it was really funny to pretend he was puking with the stuff from the inside.

This is about as involved as Landon got. I ended up cleaning out most of it for him.

One large pile of guts!

The final products:
Landon's fatty batty.

Carson and his mummy!

Travis and cyclops the pumpkin.

We made it through our carving only breaking one chair! Landon tipped over backwards in the chair at the beginning and when Christian went to sit in it to carve Landon's pumpkin, the back broke off. We just can't have anything nice!

Weekend adventures

We got to have an extended weekend this week. Carson didn't have any school Friday, so it gave us an extra day to have some fun. Friday, we picked up my mom in Powell and headed to Cody to find Carson some new cowboy boots. We shopped at some other stores, grabbed some lunch and then made our way back to my mom's house where we decorated Halloween sugar cookies.

Landon had fun in the high chair with a little bit of dough and a rolling pin.

Landon thought it was great fun to get to have some of the left over frosting piped into his mouth!

Saturday, Christian left early to help his family move cows from their summer pasture in Dry Head part of the way back home. Bringing cows home for the winter is always a three day process. We picked up Grandma Asay and met up with everyone just after they made it to the corrals, where they separate cows and leave them for the night.

The boys missed getting to ride behind the cows, so Christian gave them rides around the corrals.

Landon was SO into watching the cows. He loves them!

Landon sat and yelled "hup, ha. Cows" As they were coming down the alley. It was so cute.

The kids had fun playing in the water troughs.

Today, the boys and I went to church, had lunch and short naps, and then met up with the guys again shortly before they got to the corrals for the night. They will go the rest of the way home tomorrow. It has been beautiful fall weather for moving cows and the trees are beautiful this year! Tomorrow it's supposed to get really cold and snowy, so we were happy that we got to be around today and yesterday!
The cows before we met up with them.

They were pretty darn tired by this point.

Beautiful view!

Carson decided to walk behind the cows since he didn't have a horse to ride.

Finally in the corrals.

Cousin party!

Today we got to party with all the Asay cousins together at our house. We started off by having a picture with all the grandkids together. It's always easier said than done, but I think between 5 of us taking pictures, we are bound to have at least one good one! After pictures, we had some lunch and then let the kids play for a bit. Then we decorated Halloween cookies before everyone left for naps. It was so fun for the kids to be together again. I know that my two oldest boys have sure missed having Kandace and Stetson around to hang out with and it was fun to be able to visit with my sister-in-laws!
All the grandkids.

My best picture of all the grandkids together!

Emily did a really good job of getting the kids to look and smile!

This is the craziness of trying to get the kids ready for pictures.

Round three of pictures was not very successful!

This one cracks me up because this pretty much sums it up!

Enjoying some lunch.
