Camp out

This Friday night, we made a trip into Dry Head for a camp out with grandma and grandpa Asay, Micheal and Emily and their family and Daniel and Kasi and their kids. We arrived around 7 and the first thing on our agenda was to catch some more salamanders to see how much they had changed. The one we caught did't look too much different from the ones we had caught a few weeks earlier. After catching salamanders we decided to set up our camp while we waited for the rest of the crew to show up. We borrowed a 6-8 man tent from grandma and grandpa Foulger that was perfect for us. We were able to blow up two queen size air mattresses to sleep on and still have lots of room to walk around! The rest of the group showed up around 8:30 and we helped set up their tents and then cooked some hamburgers and hot dogs for dinner which we ate at like 9:30! Once dinner was over, we roasted marshmallows and sat around while grandpa Asay told us stories from when he was younger coming in to move cows in the same spot. It was off to bed after that! We all slept pretty comfortably and good, minus Travis talking in his sleep several times in the night!
The first salamander we caught that night. We thought it looked like an alien!
The cows hanging out by the pond.
Christian and the boys setting up our tent. We ended up parking the trailer we brought behind it to block the wind. By the time we went to bed, it was calm and a beautiful night!
Ta-da!
Grandpa Asay took to the kids to catch more salamanders and this is the coolest one they got!
Landon was one dirty boy by the end of the night!
All three boys all tucked in for the night. We turned the air mattress so that they could all fit on it! By next year, though, Carson will be too long to sleep on it that way!
We thought it would be funny to take some selfies!
Saturday morning, we were up bright and early before 6 am. The guys got to work saddling up horses and too off to round up the cows. The girls and little kids took off a little later (after the kids had had some muffins and juice for breakfast) in the suburban and truck to follow behind the herd. It was nice and over cast in the morning, making it so nice to move the cows.

Landon thought it would be a good idea to eat a left over hot dog from the night before for breakfast. Gross!

We stopped and waited for the cows to catch up to us and the kids thought it was so fun to get to sit on the hood of the suburban.

Once we got the cows to their final destination, the guys and horses took a break for a bit and we all just hung out. After a bit we headed back to the truck and horse trailer.
There were huge Mormon Crickets around the kids were catching.

This might be my favorite picture from the trip!
Travis was such a good cowboy and rode the whole time by himself.

Once we got back to the truck and horse trailer, we discovered that the truck was having a problem with a spark plug and wasn't going to be making the trip home with us. We all piled in the suburban and Jared's jeep and headed back to our camp for lunch.
Landon, Kandace, Britt and Janelle waiting for the guys to meet up with us at the horse trailer.

My favorite part of the trip is always when the boys are riding back to the horse trailer! They are usually all lined up and talking with one another...I. love. it!
All done with the cattle drive!
Grandma and grandpa Asay cooked us some yummy pancakes, bacon and eggs after we were all done moving cows.
Christian and Daniel had a little competition to see how could hit the pop can from the farthest spot. They would both get a shot and if they both hit it then the would move back 3 paces and do it again. They actually made it quite a ways back with Carson's little bb gun!
Having some fun!
