Last Day of School

Thursday was the boys last day of school. I can't believe this school year is already done! Here they are on their first day of school and then the last day of the year. They have both grown and matured this year.

Earlier in the week, I had received a call from the school telling me that Travis was going to be receiving an award at the awards assembly, so Landon and I attend. I was not aware of the award he was getting until he was awarded it. He had been nominated by his teacher to be one of 2 recipients of the Zestful Award. The criteria for the award are that the student has to have a zest for life, be willing to try new things, and stand up for what is right. He was certainly surprised that he was getting the award. His teacher had such kind things to say about him and it made my heart happy. He got a $20 gift card to Barnes and Nobles to go with his award!

 Carson was also recognized and received an award for being part of the school Peer Mediation group.

At the end of the assemble, the school sang their goodbye song to the 5th graders. A lot of the kids were emotional at the thought of leaving elementary school. Carson, being the softy he is, was sad about it too.

I am so happy that my boys have had such a great year this year. They both had wonderful teachers that they learned so much from and cared for each of them. I'm still in denial that I will have a middle schooled next year...but he is super excited about it!
