Dry Head

On Monday, we had plans to trail cows into Dry Head with Grandpa Asay, but when only two semi's showed up to truck the cows part of the way, we had to make a change in plans. We wouldn't have been able to start until around 5, which is way too late to start trailing. So, they went to plan B, which was trail the cows Tuesday. Monday night for family home evening, we took a quick trip in to make sure there was water in the pond for the cows when they would get there. We grabbed some fried chicken to have for a picnic when we got there. After we ate our dinner, we attempted to catch some salamanders. Christian caught one on his first attempt and then another one a little bit later. The ones we caught this year were a lot bigger than the ones we caught last year. We actually saw one that was about a foot long floating out in the middle of the pond!

On the way back, we stopped at Devil's Canyon Overlook to check out the lake from the overlook. It always amazes me what a beautiful canyon we have to enjoy!

When they decided to trail Tuesday, it meant that it would only be Christain, his dad and our two older boys to do the trailing! Christian, Carson and Travis got up at 5 to head out to Grandpa Asay's house. They actually started moving the cows around 7. Landon and I met up with Grandma Asay later and caught up with them around 10. Carson and Travis were rock stars! They rode the entire 8 hours (12 miles) it took to get the cows to the pond, only stopping once to get a little something to eat. I walked a good portion of it and rode the 4-wheeler behind too. Landon took a few turns on the horses with Christian, the 4-wheeler, and in the car with Grandma Asay. It was a pretty hot day, but was nice, despite the cows moving slow. In a few weeks, we will go in again and move them up the mountain until the fall.

This kid ate like 3 halves while we were stopped and like 3 more later in the evening!

Angus scared me when he jumped on the back of the 4-wheeler and decided he was going to ride with me.

Finally finished!

Being silly!

Some of the pretty flowers. The Indian Paintbrushes were beautiful on the way. I wish I would have had my camera to take pictures while I was riding on the 4 wheeler.
On our way home, two out of the 3 boys fell asleep. Travis was so tired that he fell asleep with his sucker still in his mouth. Carson took it out and he woke up and took it back and put it in his mouth, and again, went back to sleep! We also saw several wild horses along the way home.
