Trip to Laramie

Friday after school, we loaded up our car and headed down to Laramie to watch the Cowboys play football. As we were headed to Casper for the night to stay with our friends Greg and Janelle, we came upon a long line cars of stopped in the Wind River Canyon. Right in front of us was a bright sign saying traffic emergency ahead...not something you want to see while you are in this canyon. There have been some pretty nasty wrecks in the Wind River Canyon in the past. We were stopped for over 45 minutes! We found out in that time that a semi hauling hay tipped over and they were having to clean up the road and get the semi back up right. While we were waiting for the "go ahead" to drive, Christian took the boys down to a camp ground below the road and let them walk around and throw rocks. I stayed up with the car and waited to hear when we were going to get to go. We finally made it to Casper around 8 and had fun visiting with the Lewis'. Our boys were excited to see and play with their boys and stayed up way too late having a slumber party in the basement.
Saturday morning, we got up pretty early and got ready, had breakfast and ran a couple of errands before we drove the rest of the way to Laramie. Once we were in Laramie, we grabbed some Wendy's for lunch and then headed over to the game where we met up Greg and Janelle and their family. We had heard that it was supposed to rain on game day, but we were lucky enough that it only rained for a bit at the start of the game. We did have to make a mad dash for some ponchos because it rained pretty hard, but we were sure glad to have them! The game was great and they ended up beating Northern Colorado like 35-7. We left the game with about 10 minutes left because of lightening. They have to do a mandatory 30 delay every time there is a strike of lightening. After waiting about 15 into the first 30 minutes, lightening struck again, making the 30 minutes start over, so we decided to go check into our hotel. We checked in and then ate at our favorite restaurant, Corona Village for dinner. After dinner we went back to the hotel and took the kids swimming, but our swimming was cut short when a kid puked in the pool and they had to shut it down! Sunday, we drove home in the rain and made it home early afternoon. It was so fun to go back to Laramie and see how much it has changed. The boys enjoy hearing about things we did and seeing where we used to live and where Carson was born.
The sign we came up on as we were approaching the line of stopped cars.
Checking it all out.
Walking around.
My cute boys.
The large bales of hay on the road in the canyon. They smashed the guard rail pretty good.
The huge wind turbines between Casper and Laramie
Pictures from the game. The boys wanted to buy these ridiculous large yellow foam hats...I convinced them to just let me take a picture of them wearing it instead.
Landon loved when we stood up and clapped to the Cowboy Joe song.
Carson and Travis with Pistol Pete.

You can't go to a game without seeing good ole' Drunkin' Barrel Man walking around. Notice the crazy dark sky in the background. I'm surprised we didn't get worse weather than what we had!

Our family before we left the game.
