Randomness

Here are some random things that have gone on in our house recently:

We planted some watermelon in our garden this year not knowing how they would do. They actually produced awesome, nice, big watermelons! The boys have been super excited about them and would go out and check them to see if they were ready to eat just about every day. We figured they would just detach from the vine like our cantaloupe did, but every day, they were still holding on tight. As it's started to get colder, we thought we could take a chance and try the first one that grew and see how it was. The boys were beyond excited to FINALLY get to try one of their watermelons! The one we picked was awesome, probably the best we've had all summer! It was all sorts of juicy, flavorful and full of seeds, which the boys had fun spitting at each other. We enjoyed the whole thing Saturday afternoon, and now need to hose off our deck as a result! Travis is already asking when we get to open another one! Needless to say, I think we will be planting some more next year!
The long awaited for watermelon tasting!

LOVE it!

Enjoying their watermelon! They were all sticky and had to change clothes by the time we  had eaten most of it!

Saturday afternoon while I was getting ready to take the older boys to the movie, it got awfully quiet...which is never a good thing with an almost 2 year old around! I went out to the living room to find the two older boys sitting together watching tv and Landon fast asleep on the couch with his horses laying next to him. He never just falls asleep on the couch. If he's really tired, he will go get his blanket and  take you to his room. He continued to sleep for over 3 hours that afternoon!
Landon loves his horses and cows. If he's not riding his stick horse, you can bet he is playing with his "cows" which is what he calls cows and horses.

What a sweetie...even with a dirty, sticky watermelon face!

One day, not too long ago, Christian called me out while he was mowing the lawn. He wanted me to document that he logged 24 hours on the riding lawn mower. He had spent the equivalence of one whole day mowing the lawn in the year that we have been in this house. He is always so happy to have it when it comes time to mow the lawn because he probably would have logged triple that amount if he had to use the push mower!

  1. Love the watermelon. We are sad that the growing season is almost over. I am right there with Christian and the riding lawn mower...saves a LOT of time when you can sit to get the job done!!
