State Wrestling

We just spend this weekend in Casper at the Wyoming State Wrestling tournament. Christian had to be in Buffalo, Wy Friday for their customer appreciation day luncheon, so the kids and I drove there to have lunch with him and then pick him up and drive the rest of the way to Casper. We got to Casper just in time to watch Jacob's first match, which he won and sent him to the semi-final match that night (which he lost). He was done for the day, but we stuck around to watch the other matches and the march of champions. After wrestling was done for the day, and we were able to make it out of the parking lot, we met up with Grandpa and Grandma Asay and Jared at the hotel for some swimming(the pool was actually quite warm) and pizza for dinner.

Headed to go swimming

Carson jumping in the pool!
Grandpa and Landon enjoying some pizza together.
Saturday, Jacob wasn't going to be wrestling until around noon, so we had breakfast with grandma and grandpa Asay, took our time getting ready and ran to Target before heading to the Events Center. Jacob won his first match on Saturday, meaning he would be wrestling for 3rd or 4th place! He ended up taking third place! What a stud!! We didn't stay for  the awards ceremony, but ran and got some dinner and took it back to the room so the boys could run around instead. Today, we woke up to quite a bit of snow and had heard that the canyon was closed that we had to go through to get home. We were glad that we had made plans to meet up with our friends, the Lewis' for breakfast at their house, so that we were able to give the roads a chance to open and clear up a little. The roads were actually pretty good once we got outside of Casper!
The older boys sported their team Jacob shirts we made last year for State Wrestling.
Landon fell asleep right before the medalling matches and slept for quite a while on Christian's shoulder.

When he woke up, he really enjoyed some breadsticks and cheese for a snack!

One cheesy kid!
The boys were really pretty good through out the whole thing. It's a lot of sitting and they were kept occupied with electronics!
Jacob's first match on Saturday against a Shoshone kid.
Waiting for the pin...
Got it!
Win!
Waiting to be called out.
Jacob's #1 fans. We were just missing Jared who was sitting somewhere else!
Jared went down and warmed up with Jacob before one of his matches.

Jacob, third place winner!

We are so proud of Jacob and his third place medal! It's been so fun to watch Jacob through the years. It's crazy to think that he is done with his high school sports and the next time we will be at State will be with our own kids!
