Middle School wrestling

Travis was able to finish up his middle school werstling season this weekend. He wrestled the 138 weight bracket the whole season. They attended their conference tournament in Thermopolis and he came away with 4th place. He started out wrestling a great match against a kid from Lander. He ended up losing by 2 points, but if he had had 10 more seconds, he would have beaten the kid. Next he wrestled a kid from Worland, who he was able to pin the first period, putting him the match to wrestle for 3rd and 4th. He ended up having to wrestle the kid he werstled first and got pinned pretty quick in the first period (I'm not really sure what happened because it was such a great match the first time...oh well.)
Travis improved tons this season. He looked a lot more confident on the mat and was fun to watch! He's decided not to play basketball this year (even though we keep trying to convince him to do it), so he will have a bit of a break until track, but will get to watch and support Carson in his wrestling season that starts next weekend!

Thanksgiving

Once again, we had a great Thanksgiving. It always seems to go so fast, but we had as much fun as we could with the few days off we had! On Wednesday, I made the boys do chores because I knew we were not going to be home a lot the rest of the days. After they were done cleaning, Travis and Carson went to try and find Carson a doe to shoot since he didn't have much time to get a buck in the season. They werent' able to get one, but had fun toghether. Thursday, the guys got up and had their annual Pheasant hunt with Jason, Jacob, Daniel and Britt. They ended up getting skunked, but always have a blast together! I met the boys out at Grandma Asay's house after they hunted and we hung out there visiting for a bit before we headed home so they could all shower and then went over to Powell to have dinner with grandma and grandpa Foulger and Jason, Cassie and Remi. It was a delicious meal, as always, followed by some wrestling and a couple rounds of telestrations.
Friday, the boys all went out and helped grandpa Asay preg test the cows. I decided to head over to Powell and help grandma Foulger put up her trees. We set up 3 trees!
Saturday, the guys all got ready and headed out to try and get Carson a doe again. They were able to spot one pretty early on and nab it. Carson was just happy to finally get something and be able to make some jerkey since they had already eaten all of the jerkey from Travis's antelope.
They also tried their hand at some more pheasant hunting and were able to get a couple between us and Daniel and Britt.
Sunday, we went to church and then the boys decorated their tree downstairs and I decorated the tree upstairs. I love having the trees up and sitting in the dark with their lights glowing!

Football Awards banquet

Tonight was the football team's awards banquet. Carson recieved awards for lettering (for the 3rd year), 2A All Conference Honorable Mention and Wyoming Coaches Association academic award. Their team had a combined GPA average of 3.28, so they were awarded the WHSAA distinguished scholastic achievement award to them also. Carson loved football this year and grew leaps and bounds. It was fun to see him be rewarded for all of his efforts!

State baseball

On Wednesday, the teams (both the majors and minors team made it to state...first time in league history that both of them made it!) met up to all ride together down to Gillette for State. We were able to use the Club Dauntless vans so the boys could all ride together. Christian and I were leavin the next morning super early for a trip, so we weren't able to go down and watch them play their first game. Luckily, I have great friends and family that sent me videos and Gamechanger had a live feed of the game! It was so fun to be able to watch Landon when I couldn't be there in person, which was hard on my momma heart. The minors team played Torrington first. They lost 2-5. Landon had a great game. He pitched and had one the teams 4 hits in the game. Grandma Asay, Carson and Travis made the trip down Thursday when they played Bridger Valley (who we played for the championship at Districts). We were able to watch about and inning of this game before our plane took off and we lost service. The boys ended up loosing 11-8. Landon lead their team with 3 hits. Loosing that game put them out of the tournament and taking 4th place. It was such a great experience for Landon and we are so proud of him and his team for having such a great year!!
The minors bus
Grandpa and Grandma Foulger came over before Landon left for state and gave him a good luck at state package!
Both the Majors and the Minors team took 4th place at State!
The team ended up staying another night and coming home the next day. All three of my boys had a blast at the pool in the hotel. It had some cool waterslides. The tried to build a human train as lond as they could and all go down the slide together. The video was hilarious!
I was told that Travis slept all the way to Gillete and all the way home...Of course Carson had to document it and send it to me!
On a side note, this year was the first year in our leagues histories that all of our local baseball teams qualified for state in their respective classes. They decided to get all the teams together and get a picture to remember it. It was a great year for baseball at all levels!!

District All-Star Baseball

Landon was able to make the All-Star team again this year and we spent the last week watching him play at the District tournament in Cody. They ended up having an excellent week and made it to state baseball! Their first game was against Cody and we played pretty terrible! We lost to them which sent us to play Rock Springs who we beat 19-7. We played Powell next and won 15-8, sending us into the championship game and punching the Mustange's ticket to state baseball! We used up pretty much all of our pitchers in the previous game, so we knew this game was probably going to be pretty ugly. The boys ended up losing 7-17, but they were so excited to be able to keep playing next week in Gillette in the State Tournament!! They began the tournament introducing all the teams and then had a team feed for the teams.
It's always fun to form new friendships with other moms when my kids are on sports teams. Here is the great group of ladies (we were missing one of the moms) I was able to get to know better this summer. They are a fun bunch of ladies!
We did manage to sneak in an evening on the boat in between all our baseball games.
