First day of school 2020!

Yesterday was the first day of school! We were lucky enough to be able to go back to school in person this year, and hope that it stays that way! The boys were excited, yet nervous. Carson and Travis were both going to school in new buildings and there are a ton of changes this year due to COVID, so they had every right to be nervous! I had lots of feelings today as I dropped each of them off at school. I was so happy that they have the opportunity to be AT school, with their peers and teachers, but sad to see everything that they must do to be able to have that opportunity. As I subbed in the lunchroom today, I couldn't help feel sad as I looked out and watched my own son and his fellow classmates as they sat two to a table, six feet apart. There was hardly any interaction and it was oddly quiet in the lunch room. I couldn't help but think about how this in not how their school experience should have to be. But, we are rolling with it and trying to have good attitudes as we go. I know they are being well taken care of and are safe while they are at school.

Sporting their new face coverings for school. Who knew that face masks would be considered back to school clothes?!

One of the new changes as a result of COVID is that students riding the bus must be screened for fevers before they enter the bus (all other kids will be screened as they enter the school). They also have to wear face coverings, have assigned seats and are supposed to sit with their families. If they have a temp over a certain temperature, they aren't allowed to load the bus and have to stay home.
Landon getting his temp checked as they get on the bus.
