Cousin party 2020

Grandma Asay had her annual Asay cousin party today. The theme this year was a Mexican fiesta. We arrived at lunch time and had a yummy variety of Mexican food to eat. There were tacos, nachoes, burritos, taquitos and homemade churros. After lunch was the treasure hunt. This year, grandma divided them into 3 groups to find their treasure. Emily and I went with the older 4 kids on theirs and it was difficult this year! Apparantly, last year they told uncle Jacob it wasn't hard enough. He made sure it was good and hard this year for them! They were sure happy when it was over and the had found their treasure!!

Big kids on their treasure hunt. Their treasure was hidden in the back of our car. They got bags full of coins (about $4 worth).

After the treasure hunts, we cooled off in the house and decorated cupcakes to eat. When all the cupcakes were decorated, they played a game of charades and won prizes, had a cake walk where they got more fun prizes, and jumping bean races (gunny sack races).

Two piñatas that Aunt Renee made were next, and they were a highlight! Carson ended up being the one that broke open the older kids piñata. Grandma turned on the sprinklers and filled up water balloons after that and the kids broke loose and enjoyed getting wet since it was so hot that day. To finish off the day, each kid got a beach towel from grandma and they enjoyed bubble gum ice cream for dessert. They sure had a great day with their cousins and look forward to what next year's will bring!
