Rupert the horse

While we were out of town for District baseball, we went and looked at a horse in Lander that sounded like it would be a good kids horse. We drove out to look at it before Travis's game. Landon and Carson both gave it a try and liked it, so we decided to take it! Landon was beyond excited to finally have a horse! We picked it up Saturday after all of Travis's games and took it to it's new home in Grandpa Asay's pasture. We were hoping that it would have been early enough for the boys to ride him when we dropped him off, but it was dark. 

So, Monday for family home evening, they saddled up horses and went for a little ride to see how he did with other horses. They had a good ride, minus the flies and mosquitos!

Off to ride. Travis got to ride Rupert first since he wasn't there when we checked him out.

While they were on their ride, they discovered a nest of birds under a cow pie.

The people we bought him from said his name was Stan, and since that's grandpa Asay's name, we figured we had better change it. The Asay's tend to name their horses after the person they bought it from, and the man's name was Ryan. We have a friend whose name is Rupert Ryan, so we decided to call the horse Rupert.
