We were finally able to make it up the mountain last weekend for some camping. Christian took Friday off of work, so we left Thursday after he was done working and headed up the mountain. We got up there with just enough time to get situated before it got dark. We made a fire and cooked some cinnamon rolls in oranges. They were a yummy treat.
Friday, we got up and made pancakes, bacon and eggs for breakfast. Breakfast in the mountain is my fave! The boys played and explored while we got breakfast cleaned up and ready for the day. We decided to fish Friday before it got super busy like it usually does on the weekends. We started at Half ounce doing some stream fishing. We were pretty successful! Landon was the winner catching 8, Christian 4, Travis and Carson 2 each and I caught 1. We went back to the camper for some sandwiches for lunch.

While we were eating lunch, Grandpa and Grandma Foulger showed up. We visited with them while the kids played around and then we decided to head to the Ranger Station to fish in the pond there. We only ended up catching one fish while we were there. The boys had way more fun catching frogs and tadpoles than fish here.

Since we weren't catching much, we decided to move to Cow Camp pond to fish and it was much better. Travis caught 4, Christin caught 4, Carson got 4, Landon got a couple and I wasn't able to get any.

Around 6, we made our way back to the camper and got dinner ready. We made foil dinners for dinner that night. Grandpa and Grandma Foulger stuck around for a while but left before dinner. Daniel and Kasi had arrived some time while we were gone fishing, so the kids were happy to see their cousins. We made smores and hung out around the campfire until we were too tired!

Saturday, we woke up and made French toast, sausage and eggs for breakfast. We cleaned up and sat around chatting with Daniel and Kasi while the kids played.
Kasi had brought big pieces of chalk for the kids to carve in.

After hanging out for a bit, we decided to hike Paradise Falls. It was a nice hike down to the falls. The boys had brought their swimsuits (minus Landon...I forgot his) and were excited to get to slide down the falls. It was beautiful down at the falls. We watched as the kids slid down and then we hung out for a bit while they dried before we hiked back out.
|
Carson and Travis were the brave ones that went down all 3 three of the slides. The water was FREEZING, but they had a pretty good time. Landon was only brave enough to try the smaller of the three slides. It took him forever to get up the nerve to try it, but once he did, we couldn't get him out!

This slide had a lot more of a drop and the pool was bigger at the bottom. Their faces as they came out of the water was priceless...you could definitely tell it was COLD water!
Carson's turn!
After Paradise Falls, we went back to camp and roasted some hot dogs. The kids played, we napped, played some cornhole, and then packed up some of our stuff and headed back down the mountain for home. We left our camper up there with good intentions of coming back, but once we got to looking at our schedule, we realized we weren't going to be able to get back up there any time soon, so Monday evening, we went back up the mountain and brought the camper home.

Uncle Daniel took the kids to chop down a tree to use as firewood. The had a great time taking turns until it came down.

We loved our time in the mountain and wished we had more time to do it again. I was just happy that we had two nights up there and were able to get done everything we wanted to. Maybe next summer we can get up there more!
Camping in the mountains is the best!! Looks like a great time and summer just goes to fast doesn't it!?!
