Carson's 10th birthday!

Over the weekend, we celebrated Carson's birthday with family. We were kind of small in numbers this year due to some being out of town, but it was still a great party.
I always try to go and eat lunch with the boys on (or around) their birthday. Last year, I took him out of school and we went to Blimpies, and that's what he wanted to do again...so, Friday, we did!
Birthday morning #10 pancakes!
Carson chose to have pizza for dinner and Death by Chocolate for his dessert. He wanted a lego party, so we kind of went with that idea.

Opening presents

Landon thought the giant bag one of the gifts came in made a great cape!

A new fish to replace Blueberry!

My grandma (really grandma Foulger, as my boys like to call her) arranged for Carson to receive a special gift for his birthday. She had written all sorts of funny things all over the wrapping paper and was very specific that he open it when there weren't lots of people around.

Reading all the fun captions on the wrapping paper.

Inside the present was a wooden box that my great grandpa Foulger had built. The trick, though, was that he had to figure out how to open the wood box without any tools (and there was no known combination).

My grandma sent a card with these fun pictures. The top is a picture of my great grandpa who built the box. The bottom picture is of my grandparents.
Trying to figure out how to open it. Lucky for him, one of the screws on the lock had fallen out while it was wrapped, so he was able to figure out that that must be how it opens.

Such a cool box with some family history to it! It won't take long for him to fill it with all sorts of fun treasures!
