Mother's Day weekend

Mother's Day weekend, we got to have Butts and Jabin come and stay with us. They had planned to stay the weekend with our parents, but they ended up having to leave out of town at the last minute. Christian and I made a late trip to Cody Friday night to pick them up off their flight that landed at 11. Jacob was nice enough to come and stay with the boys while we were gone.

Saturday, we woke up, had breakfast and then got ready. We decided to head out to the hills to shoot guns. We picked some asparagus while we were out there to have with our lunch.

Christian stopped on our way out to shoot to check on his dad's corn planting.

After shooting for a few hours, we headed back to the house for lunch. We cooked some brauts to have with our asparagus we picked earlier and sat outside and enjoyed the nice afternoon.
After the kids had naps, we decided to head bowling and have pizza with Jason and Cassie. We showed up at the bowling alley only to find that it was closed. We went with plan B: ordered pizza and then played cards at the house. We celebrated Jason's birthday with brownies and ice cream for dessert!
It was a great weekend with our family!

Randomness!

Here are just a few things:
I had a great Mother's Day. The boys made some great cards and gave them to me. I especially like the little book that Travis made in school. It made me laugh!

For story time this week, they read about Yellowstone and Park Rangers. For their activity, they made binoculars and Ranger vests. He had so much fun playing in the little tipi that the Librarian brought to go along with her stories.

Landon started a tumble class last week. He has really been enjoying getting to run around and to some fun activities!
Hanging from the low bar.

His very favorite thing to do is run and jump off the spring board and he's acutally quite good at it! He catches some good air!
Travis has really been into doing his own hair lately. He's always liked having his hair done (like uncle Jabin's). He decided he wanted to learn to do it all by himself and he's done a really good job of it. Sunday before church, Landon asked me if he could have his hair done like that too. Travis offered to do it for him!
Landon has decided that he likes to sit in our neighbor's tree that is on the corner of our property. I don't trust him to sit there by himself yet, so we chill out there while he sits in the tree and "plays".
Landon was having a rough afternoon the other day and was kind of sad. I hadn't heard anything from him for a bit and found that Travis had taken him to read to him!

Art Show

It's May...where did April go? The school year is starting to wind down, which means lots of activities going on. We started this week with attending the elementary school art show. Each student gets to pick out 3 art pieces they have created during the school year and display them for others to see. There are always some really fun pieces to look at!

A few things

Not much going on in the Asay household over the last week. Here are a few pictures:

We have 3:00 church this year (we like to refer to it as midnight mass). It's really hard, some times, for Landon...and Christian, to stay awake during Sacrament meeting some times because this is usually nap time for Landon. Two Sunday's ago, I caught them both asleep at the end of Sacrament. It was too cute!

Last week was a beautiful Spring week. Most days were in the 60's and 70's. The boys played outside as long as they could after school and especially loved playing down at the pond. It hasn't started filling up with water, so it's really shallow and the minnows are in abundance! They probably logged around10 hours down by the pond last week! My deck looked like an aquarium with all the cups, buckets and pails full of minnows, crawdads, snails, and even a couple of water snakes and a toad!
They have been putting their muck boots and fishing nets to good use!

Travis decided one night to make a minnow trap to set. He took a water bottle and cut off the top and then placed the top inside the bottle so that the minnows could swim in, but not out. His first night, he probably had 20 little minnows in his trap and was super excited. He tried it a couple more nights, but they weren't as successful.

Friday, Christian and I got to attend the temple the his brother, Jacob's, fiancĂ©. Grandma Foulger offered to keep the kids over night if we wanted to stay the night, so we did. We attended the Billings, MT temple that evening, ate at Texas Roadhouse and then ran some errands in Target, TJ Maxx and Walmart. Saturday, we got ready and hit Scheels, Hobby Lobby, Costco and Shipton's. It was a great little get away with my hubby!

The tulips at the temple were beautiful!

Lost tooth!

So, about 3 weeks ago, we were at Grandma Asay's house in the kitchen when Landon accidentally fell off a kitchen stool. His poor mouth caught the brunt of the force and he ended up with a VERY wiggly front tooth (that we probably could have pulled out that day). We had hoped that if we left it alone, that it would firm up in the gums and be just fine. Well, fast forward to last Friday...we were eating lunch at our house and Landon was enjoying his favorite lunch...a hot dog. He bit down on a piece of the hot dog (or fork...I'm not sure) and it knocked the same tooth sending it backwards in his mouth. After examining it, it was clear that it wasn't going to recover from this blow. I grabbed a paper towel (not my idea of fun...the thought of pulling out a tooth made me queasy), grabbed on to the tooth, and it came right out. I didn't even have to pull on it! Landon was SO excited about loosing his first tooth! That night, the boys spent the night at Grandma Foulger's house while we went to the temple. Landon decided he wanted to take his tooth with him so the tooth fairy could come visit. Grandma even helped him write a note asking her to leave it so he could show more people! He woke up in the morning to find that the tooth fairy had visited and given him a dollar and some gum. Lucky boy! We love his new toothless smile!

Wahoo!

My kids have some pretty amazing grandparents that are full of love and hardwork!

Catching up!

Here I am again...playing catch up. We have had some beautiful weather and have loved being able to play outside, have play dates at the park and work in the yard!

The first weekend in April, Megan and Jabin flew home for a visit. They stayed with us Friday night (mom and dad were out of town). We stayed up way too late talking the night they got there. Saturday, we cooked breakfast, got ready and then decided to go for a little drive up to Big Horn Canyon Overlook.
All of us at the overlook.
After the overlook, we decided to drive a little farther up and headed to Barry's Landing.
A group of deer as we drove in.

This Big Horn Sheep was right off the road and was sniffing us out pretty good.

It was interesting to see the dirty water mixing in with the nice clean water.
We also stopped and walked around an area that had some tipi rings before we headed to grab some lunch and then went on to Powell to spend the afternoon.

We had El Tapatio for dinner and were quite entertained by the face swap app on Megan's phone.

Last Friday, it was supposed to be a really nice day, so Christian took the afternoon off so we could head fishing. We drove out to Pond 5 and tried to fish but had not luck. We decided since nothing was biting and some creepy guy was parked right next to us just watching, that we would head out to Zeller's Pond and try to fish there. Once again, we didn't get a bite, but the boys had lots of fun practicing their casting.
Travis and Carson digging in the garden for some worms to fish with.

Travis found a pole holder on the shore and decided to use it to his benefit.

Carson and his set up.

I bought my very first year fishing license this year, so I actually got to fish on my own.

Landon was more into exploring the area than he was into the fishing.
Fishing at Zellers

After fishing at Zeller's Pond, we had an impromptu weenie roast at Grandpa and Grandma Asay's house. It was a beautiful evening...perfect for a camp fire!

We Saturday, we worked out in the yard and took our mower over to Powell to get the blades sharpened and some other maintenance things. We stopped and helped grandpa Foulger clean up Great Grandpa Foulger's yard and then grabbed some lunch together. On our way home, we found that one of our friends had  a 4-wheeler for sale, so we went and checked it out and ended up getting it. Christian was so excited about it that we had to load up both the 4-wheelers and headed out to the hills to ride around. We took a bag with us so we could look for asaparagus. We were able to find enough for us to have with our dinner last night.

The boys by one of the patches we were able to find some asaparagus.

We stopped in another spot and let the boys climb/explore some rocks.

Travis and Landon went out to grandma Asay's house after school one day while I helped with Carson's scouts. When I got back, they had made lead ropes and were walking the sheep around.
