Cub Scout Day Camp!

Carson spent Friday and Saturday at day camp here in Lovell. The first day was at the Visitor Center where they got to rotate around to different stations and learn different things. He said his favorite thing that day was archery, wrist rocket paintball, and shooting the bb guns.
Ready for a day of fun!

Grandma Asay was helping with the Dances Around the world booth where they taught them how to do the Haka (?) so she was able to send me some pictures!

Looking good in his grass skirt!
This was the hot air balloon the kids got to learn about. They were supposed to get to ride in it, initially, but ended up not being able to.
During Flag Ceremony.

Saturday, I got to go with the wolves as their leader. We started with a 1.5 mile hike out by Horseshoe Bend. After the hike, we had lunch and then the boys got to play in a bounce house, water slide and swim in the lake. Carson said his favorite part was the hike.
After our hike selfie!

Enjoying lunch with his good friends Braxton F. and Jacob B.

Building with the mud at the lake.

Jumping in the bounce house!
Waiting in line for the water slide.

Carson and his friend Braxton racing each other!
It was a fun couple of days for Carson. He had fun doing new things and I could tell that he was worn out by the end of each day!

Branding

Monday night for family home evening, we went out to grandpa Asay's house to help brand the last (I think) of the calves before they go to summer pasture. They didn't start until evening, so it turned into a late for the guys.

The guys working away.

Travis had been talking all day about wanting to ride one of Grandpa's calves. He brought his bike helmet and a bull riding vest so he would be all prepared to do it!
All ready to ride!
Travis's first attempt at riding a calf. It only lasted as long as Christian could keep up with the calf.

He ended up trying to ride 4 different times through out the night! He says next time he wants his dad to let him go to see how far he can go!

Swimming lessons!

Our last week was pretty much consumed by swimming lessons. We had lessons every day from 11:30 to 1:00 which pretty much ate up most of our day. Actually, we would pack a lunch to eat while we were waiting for the lessons to get over.
They both did great and learned lots. Carson was able to pass level 3 and Travis passed level 1...way to go boys. They were super excited for the last day because they got to dive for money. Carson came prepared to lessons with his bright yellow snorkeling goggles so that he could make sure that he would be able to see really well under the water. He ended up retrieving 17 pennies and Travis got quite a few too! We are glad to be done so we can enjoy the water and not have to sit in the "sauna" any more.
Carson practicing his back float skills.

Travis having a blast! I'm so glad that my kids love the water!

Kicking away.

For Father's Day this year, we surprised Christian with a new grill! Ours was 10 years old and one of the knobs wasn't working real great. Here's to lots more grilling!

2014 Bucket List

We finally got out bucket list all put together! The boys are excited to start checking some things off on it!

Bear Lake

On Thrusday, we were able to make our way over to Bear Lake for a Monk family reunion. Christian's aunt planned a reunion at her lake house for all the family members to stay at. Christian did some work in Riverton that morning, so the boys and I picked him up there and continued on our way. We got to the lake house around six that night. The boys were happy to get to play some bad mitton outside with Maddie (Christian's cousin) and Lauren (Christian's cousins wife). We had some yummy dinner and waited for the rest of the families to show up. We made a quick run into town to grab some milk shakes and they were DELICIOUS! We stayed up late that night playing cards and laughing!
Relaxing!
This is where we went to grab the yummy milk shakes. We got there just as they were getting ready to close down!

Our group minus the kids who were upstairs having fun together.
The next morning, we got up and had a french toast breakfast made by grandpa Monk and Donna. As soon as breakfast was over, the kids were begging to head out to the lake. We pretty much spent the entire day out on the dock soaking up some sunshine, visiting, riding the wave runners and playing. The water was quite chilly but so nice and really blue!
Three years ago when we were there visiting, the water lever was super high so all we had to do was walk a few feet off the deck and we were in the water. This year, the water was lower, so we were able to ride the 4 wheelers out to the dock unless you liked the feel of mud stuck between your toes and then you walked out. Once out there, we set up chairs and towels and played.

Almost to the dock.
Aunt Diane taking Landon out to join the big boys.

The group out at the dock. What's funny is the water that the dock is in was not even two feet deep, but we had a blast hanging out together there!

Christian, Jan, Richard and Dave checking out the wave runners.

Carson and Peyton had a blast together! They were pretty much inseparable!
Christian having a look at the lake. It made us anxious to get our boat out. Maybe this week it will happen!

Ready to head out for a ride!

Carson and Peyton tubing. Carson got thrown off once on this ride!
We took a break for a while to have some sandwiches for lunch at the house and played a game of cards while Landon napped.

When Landon had woken up, we headed back out to the dock for some more playing. By this time, the shallow water had warmed up considerably and the boys played and played in the sand. They found all sorts of creatures and shells to fill their buckets with!
Carson brought his snorkel and was able to see lots of cool things in the water!

Playing in the sand.

Landon's face was covered in sand by the time he was done playing!

Christian and grandma Asay going for a ride!
That evening, the guys and kids all went for a 4 wheeler ride up the mountain. They saw a moose and some deer on their ride. They made it some just as dinner was done! After dinner, we had some dessert and then played a wicked game of spoons...like people flying over the table to get spoons game! It was so fun!
The guys just as they had gotten back from their ride.
The group getting ready to have some dinner.
Saturday morning, we woke up, had some breakfast burritos and then cleaned the lake house. When the house was clean, we took some family pictures and then everyone went their separate ways for the day and would meet up at Richard and Diane's house later that night.

The whole group:
(back row) Christian, Jill, Zane, Lauren, Sherie, Dave, Jan, Renae, Diane, Richard, Madison
(front row) Peyton, Donna, Travis, Landon, Grandpa Monk, Carson
We decided to go over the mountain into Logan and spend the day with my sister, Megan. We almost made through the canyon before Carson decided to puke all over himself which left Christian and Travis dry heaving and me to clean everything up by myself! Luckily, we weren't too far from my sisters where we were able to wash his clothes and he could shower! After Carson was able to get cleaned up, we went and ate lunch at a Brazilian restaurant. The boys really thought the swords full of meat were cool! We stopped by a park for the boys to play for a bit and then headed back to Megan's so the boys could take a nap. Christian offered to stay with the boys so that Megan and I could go shopping for a while, so we took him up on the offer and had a little sister shopping time! We came back and visited for a while and then drove to Sandy, UT where we stayed the night at Christian's aunt's house.
Some of our Brazilian food.

Landon and Carson getting some chicken to eat.

Travis' turn to get some steak to go with his lunch.

We had dinner and talked with family before calling it a night! Sunday morning, we went to listen to Madison (Christian's cousin) who just returned home from a mission talk in Sacrament meeting. After the meeting we quickly got all packed up, enjoyed some lunch and headed home. We had such a great time with family and hope it isn't long before we get to do another one!
