District All-Stars Baseball

Both Landon and Travis tried out for the All-stars team in their age group and both were selected to play on the team!
This year, districts was held in Rock Springs. Both teams went in seeded #2 on our side. All three boys, grandma Foulger and I headed down Wednesday morning.
We were seriously loaded to the max! Grandpa Foulger donated 10 cases of powerade and water to the teams and they were so thankful to have it because it was hot!!
We got their early so the teams could attend the opening ceremony and team feed and watch Landon's game at 7:00.
Wednesday and Thursday were both pool play game days. Landon's team ended up beating Kemmerer 24-5 in their Wednesday pool play game. The major's team came down on Wedensday also so that they could be there to cheer on the minors.
Thursday, both boys played in the afternoon. We hung out in the hotel most of the morning until it was time to head to the field. Travis woke up that morning with a completely swollen shut eye. On Tuesday, before we left, he was down at the pond and got stung by a wasp right by his eye. Travis usually has a reaction to the stings, so I was surprised when he didn't swell right away. I was even more surprised when his eye decided to swell shut two days after it happened. We iced it all morning and got some benadryl in him and by the afternoon it was looking lots better.
The minors had their 2nd pool play game against Rock Springs and we beat them 8-6. Landon ended up pitching all but the last 2 outs and did such an outstanding job!! He pitched 75 pitches and didn't walk a single batter! His coaches were so impressed by him and couldn't say enough good things about his game! I was so proud of him for his hard work and that he was able to keep his composure for the entire game!
The big boys watching and cheering on the little boys before their game. Thursday, Travis's team beat Lander 6-5. They had played their first pool play game againt Powell before the tournament in Rock Springs began and beat them.
Friday was the start of actual bracket play. Both teams ended up going in as the #2 seeds in their brackets. Landon's team played Kemmerer again and beat them 10-6. Travis's team had to play Powell again and mercy ruled them 23-1! They were both great games!!
Saturday was a big day for both teams! If they won, they would be going to the championships and go on to play at the State Tournament. They were both supposed to play at 9, but luckily, Travis's game started a little later. Christian and grandpa Foulger got up early so that they could come down and watch the games. Landon's team ended up playing Rock Springs again. It was a crazy close game and we were ahead and ready to win, when a bad call was made by the ump, costing us the game. It was definitly a heart breaker! The kids all played amazing. I was especially impressed with how much Landon had improved just in the extra month that he played and practiced with the All-Star team. He had kind of been in a hitting slump at the end of his little league season, but his caoches really worked hard with him and we spend extra time at the batting cages and he improved so much!! He hit the ball just about every time he was up to bat and it made my momma hear so happy to see all his extra work pay off! He is excited for next year and I'm excited to see him play!
Travis's team ended up playing Cody to see who went to the Championship. Cody has a tough team and ended up beating us 0-6. It was a rough way to end the tournament, but they had a great season! Cody ended up winning the Championship game, and then ended up being State Champions. After it was all said and done, Travis said he didn't feel too bad loosing to them knowing that they ended up loosing the eventual State Champs. Had the bracket been set up so that the #2 and #3 teams weren't on the same side, I firmly believe that it would have been Lovell and Cody in the championship game this year, but oh well.
All in all, they both had great experiences and made some great friendships along the way!
