What we've been up to...

Our life, lately, has been overrun by baseball. We usually have at least 4 games a week between Travis and Landon, and if there's no game, there's practice. Travis was asked to play with the traveling team last weekend for Lovell's School's Out tournament. We hadn't signed him up to play with the team because we thought we were going to have conflicts during each of the tournaments. The School's Out tournament was Friday and Saturday. Travis was wrestling camp both mornings for a couple of hours and then spend the rest of both days playing baseball. Their team ended up taking first...the first time a Lovell team has done that (the majors team also took first). He got to play second, outfield, first (which he found he really likes...and he did an excellent job at it) and pitch. Their next tournament is in Cody this weekend, and the coach asked if he could play with them again, so he will play in all the games Friday and as many as he can on Saturday (we have to go to cub scout day camp).
Trying to jump over the ball to avoid getting hit, but it got his feet so he got to take his base.
Playing first,
Safe!

Landon is doing his 2nd year of coach pitch baseball and rocking it!

The same weekend as the baseball tournament was wrestling camp. All three boys got to attend this year. Travis and Landon went from 8-10 and Carson went from 10-4 both days. Friday, they had Olympic gold medalist, Rulon Gardner come and instruct them and Saturday, Rad Martinez, a previous UW wrestler and now MMA fighter, was the instructor. They liked Saturday more, even though it was a harder day. It sounds like they learned some good things.

Landon's turn.

Our ward decided to hold it's own mini "day camp" since most of our boys weren't going to be able to attend the big one. We went out to Bob Croft's house where they were taught how to start fires and cooked their foil dinners. We the lead them on a 3 mile hike, ate lunch and then the boys got to fish, which was definitely the highlight of the day! They could have fished out there for hours. All the boys were able to catch at least one fish while they were there. Carson and one of his friends stayed back while we hiked to help with the fire and they got to fish too. Carson caught a total of 21 fish while we were there! They were mostly little guys, but they had a blast catching them!

Landon was the fisherman of the day. He caught the biggest one! The one in the left was his first one, and the one on the right was the biggest one! Travis used his fishing scale to weigh it and it was .88 pounds!

There were lots of lily pads and the flowers were so pretty!

Carson and one of his catches. He caught a big one like Landon, but it wasn't quite as big.

Roasting 'mallows.

The boys after a great day!

Landon is in the last couple of days of swimming lessons. He's done really well and has a couple of friends in his class, making it fun for him!

We helped clean up grandpa and grandma Asay's yard one weekend. They installed a giant swing that the kids just love. They had Landon try to climb up the rope before they attached the swing to it.

Earlier last week, we were finally able to plant our garden. About a week later, it was quite cold and we ended up getting frost one night. It looks as though we lost a couple of tomato plants that we will have to replace.

Travis, my little lover or growing things, planted his own crop of corn. He measured out the rows and seed depth so that everything would be just right. I sure love his passion for work and growing things. He makes sure to water it and checks on the progress every day. I sure hope he gets at lest a couple of ears to eat!
