Pinewood Derby 2016

Carson completed his last pinewood derby car and race last week. He found the design he wanted on-line and had it all drawn on his block of wood and ready to go when Christian got home from some week long meetings. They went to Michael Hendershot's shop and used his saw to cut it all out. Carson worked on sanding and painting and sanding and painting. I think we did like 10 coats of paint this year! He thought it would be fun to design his car after Grandpa Foulger's camero. I think it turned out pretty good. Besides cutting the car backwards (I didn't know there was a right and wrong end to be the front when he drew it on), and the graphite sticking to the paint, we didn't have any major problems.

All ready for race day!
This year, we had weigh-ins the night before like we did last year. It sure makes things move a lot faster this way! Wednesday was the official race day. They boys had lots of fun racing their cars and were all such good sports! All the scouts races each other and we had a double elimination bracket. Carson ended up getting like 7th place (he thinks). He was happy with his car's performance!

His first race...and he won!

Jack W., Jared M., Carson, Jacob B., Riley J. and Parker A. watching the race.

Ready to race!

Carson looking a little nervous about his race!

This was a super close race and after 3 runnings, he ended up winning it!

Christian was our car runner this year. He picked up the cars at the end and brought them back to the top where Brother Collins started them.

All our scouts!

Each scout went home with an award. Carson got the award for the only legal car since he had a license plate on the back of his (just like his grandpa's car)!

  1. Carson's car looks awesome! I'm excited to see your cabo pics. Where do you get that clear thing for all their badges that hangs on their button? I need one
