Wednesday night as soon as we were done with Pinewood Derby, Christian and I drove up to Billings to stay the night so we could catch an early flight to Cabo, Mexico. Christian qualified to attend some meeting there for selling a certain amount of chemical for a company, and lucky for me...they let him bring someone along and he picked me! My mom came and stayed with the kids at our house while we were gone (which was so nice not to have to pack for them too)! We flew out at 6 am to Minneapolis and then to on to San Jose Del Cabo where we got on a bus and drove for about 30 minutes to our resort.

We stayed at the Hyatt Ziva which is an all inclusive resort. It was beautiful and right on the beach!
| We had a ground level room which was way fun because we had lounge chairs that sat in some warm water that led to a swimming area for those rooms. |

After finding our room and getting settled in, we decided to take a walk on the beach to check it out. The beach was great, but the water was really rough and no one was ever in it. We found out later that they also have sting rays in the area that we stayed, so you didn't want to chance meeting one of them either! That evening, we got ready and attended an outdoor dinner with the other people at the conference. There was a buffet for dinner (that was ok) and a local band that performed. They were actually really good! They sang all sorts of different songs from rock, to country and even a little Blurred Lines which was so funny to hear with a Spanish accent!
| There were these mangy looking seagull all over the beach! |
| Toes in the sand! |
| Our view down the beach. |
| The Hibiscus flowers were my favorite and they had them in all sorts of colors. This one made my heart happy! |
Friday, Christian had meetings all day (from 8-4). While he was in meetings, I hung out with some other ladies from our area whose husbands were in the meeting also. It was great to have some familiar faces to hang out with!
| Some good waves. At night, I could occasionally hear the loud BOOM of the waves crashing in our room. They were pretty impressive! |

Friday evening, We had another outdoor dinner around the pools. We had a great steak and some fish and a really good (the best dessert we had the whole trip) lime tart for dessert. After dinner, Montgomery Gentry did a private concert for those at the meetings. They sounded just a good in person as they do on the radio! We were actually supposed to have Tyler Farr perform, but he ended up being sick and were able to schedule Montgomery Gentry in his place.
| We hung out in our patio area for a while, while we were getting ready for dinner. |
| The view from our room. We were really close to the bar, which was convenient to run and get drink from when ever we wanted! |
| Heading out to dinner and the concert. |

| What was fun about this concert, was that they performed over one of the pools! We were able to go up and stand about 3 rows back from them. |

Saturday, we met up with 2 other couples and walked into the little town not far from where we stayed. We searched for souveniers, enjoyed the sights (but not the smells) and had some lunch and Habaneros (which is a place that my mom and dad suggested we eat at).
There was a group of kids that came marching military style down the road while we were waiting for the rest of the people in our group.
| A view down the street of Cabo. |
These masks were everywhere! We had fun picking out some for our boys!
| At lunch, Christian ordered octopus tacos and he really liked them! I tried a piece, but the chewieness of them grossed me out! |
After walking in town, we came back to the resort and decided to sit on the beach and enjoy the sunshine!
| I loved to sit and watch the sellers on the beach. There was some imaginary line that they weren't supposed to cross and if they did, the resort security was all over them! They were selling jewelry, wood carvings, hats, shirts, etc.. They were always trying to lure you out to buy their things! |
For dinner that night, we ate at a Spanish restaurant in the resort. Christian had lamb chops and I had some paella. After dinner, we walked around and looked at some the things people were selling and then headed to a show where they did different dances from around Mexico.

Sunday, most of the people that attended the conference headed back home. We decided to extend an extra day since we were already there. So, we spent most of the day at the beach/pool.
We walked up to a market (kind of like a Wal-Mart) in the afternoon and then came back to the beach. We got ready that evening and then ate at an Italian restaurant (that was better than the Spanish one). I had parmesan crusted fish and Christian had --. We didn't order one of the pizzas because our meal came with an appetizer, main course and also a dessert, but our waitor decided that we needed to try one of the pizzas and brought us one. It was delicious and I'm glad he brought us one!
I tried to capture the sun set, but it wasn't as stellar as I was hoping!
At the Italian restaurant our last night.

| Christian told me this pic looked too much like a senior picture pose. |
| Our view at dinner. |
Monday, we got up and had breakfast fairly early at the buffet. It was still chilly, so we decided to take a walk down the beach the opposite direction we went the first day. We were able to spot some whales in the ocean and looked for some shells to take back. Most of the shells we found were tiny, but one of the ladies that was selling hats gave us a handful to take back home!
The waves were really large and loud on our walk! They were beautiful to watch! Here's the making of a wave from start to finish!

We sat at the beach for about an hour and then headed back to our room to pack up and get ready to catch our plane. We left the resort around 12. We flew from Cabo to Minneapolis and then got into Billings around 11:30. We ended up getting home around 1:30. It was a great extended weekend get away for us, but I was happy to be back home to see my boys and hear about their adventures while we were gone. They got to go spend 2 nights in Powell at grandma Foulger's house over the weekend. They ate pizza, swam at the aquatic center, went to church with grandpa and grandma, had roll-ups and waffles for breakfast and got prizes (along with lots of other goodies). We I asked them what their favorite parts were, they said swimming and watching movies with grandma! Grandma even took care of Travis's 100th day project and had a roast, potatoes and carrots ready for me to just stick in the crock pot Tuesday so I wouldn't have to worry about going to the store to get something for dinner!
| Landon sure had fun with is mask and cape while his brothers were at school! |
| A whole lot of awesomeness! |
Love your pics! Looks like a great trip!!:)
ReplyDeleteI love the masks! Looks like a great get-away.
ReplyDeleteIt looks so lovely there! That is sweet that your room was connected to a pool, I would love that!! Your swim cover-up is super adorable. And I love all the hibiscus flowers. And Christian is rocking that senior picture.
ReplyDeleteThis is from your sister, megan. My phone sucks at this.
