The pond

Our subdivision has a pretty good sized pond that belongs to everyone that has a house out there. This year, a few of us decided to go in together and buy some fish to stock the pond with. Last night, Christian and our neighbor Greg borrowed a canoe to go out into the middle to see how deep the pond was.
Checking the depth with their oars. The pond was only about 3 feet deep, but will start filling up soon when irrigation begins around us.

Having a little fun canoeing around.
After Christian and Greg had checked the depth in a a bunch of different spots, they gave the kids rides around the pond.

Getting a little push off from Mike Steenbakkers

Yesterday afternoon, a trout ranch out of Cody came and stocked the pond with 170 rainbow trout. They range in size from 8 to 16 inches long. The boys, of course, couldn't wait to fish it, so as soon as Christian got home from work, they grabbed their fishing gear and headed down. No one got any bites but we were able to see some of them and they are good sized!

Carson trying out the fishing.

The kids found a dead cat floating in the water so they worked on getting it out and then proceeded to poke at it. GROSS!

We are looking forward to Monday evening when we are having a community (and by community, I mean the people in our subdivision) pond clean up, weenie roast and fishing night for FHE! Hopefully the fish will be hungry by then and will start biting!
