End of First Grade!

This year has flown by like crazy! Today is Carson's last day as a first grader. Carson has had a great year! It's been a little trying for him, requiring some extra help in reading and math, but he worked SUPER hard all the time and never got discouraged! One of the things I admire most about him is that he is always positive, works hard and has a smile on his face! This year, he lost several teeth year, and grew some big ones in their place, learned lots, grew 3 inches and gained 2.5 pounds (according to his report card)and made some really good friends! Next year he gets to be in Mrs. Strom's class! Good job on a great year, Carson. We are proud of your accomplishments this year!

Carson came home with two awards. One for having the most improved MAP score and the other for always turning in his reading logs.
To celebrate the end of the year, we grabbed a new movie from the Red Box and had a picnic lunch followed by popcorn and treats while we watched it. We had hoped it would be nicer so we could have a water fight, but Mother Nature had other ideas!

This week has been full of fun things for the kids to do. The weather has been rainy and super windy, making it not so warm. They were supposed to go to Billings on Wednesday to the Zoo, but got rained out and had to stay at school and do activities there instead. Yesterday was their fun day. They did field activities in the morning, then headed swimming, had lunch, and then got to go the the Hyart Theatre to watch a movie with the entire school. I was lucky enough to get to go with him and his class to the movie in the afternoon.
Here is his class getting ready to do the tug-of-war.
Pull! Their class wasn't able to win any of the times they tried.
They did some relay races.

  2. We have one more week in school but today was Dash's class party--they played a slide show of the year and during it I asked Dash if he will miss first grade. He said, "I can't wait for summer vacation!" I forget that kids aren't sentimental at that age! haha Kevin was checking all your and Christian's pictures out the other day on Facebook, getting excited for our trip out there in a couple weeks. It would be fun to see how crazy our kids are together!

  3. Such a great kid!! Its scary how fast time goes by. I remember just like it was yesterday that he was starting kindergarten and it seemed like it'd be forever until Stetson started kindergarten. :(
