Some blasts from the past...

I finally got around to putting all my pictures on the computer from the last couple of weeks. Here are some things that we have been up to.

A couple of Fridays ago, we went for a family date night to pick asparagus. We picked up some fried chicken from the store along with some other treats and made a picnic out of it. Once we got to our favorite spot, we ate some dinner and then walked to find asparagus. We were able to find quite a bit just in this one spot. We are getting pretty good at being able to spot it now. We always have to retrain our eyes each Spring.

One evening after attending a graduation party, Christian stopped to check one of his dad's fields. He sure misses getting to scout fields daily like he did in Nebraska.

The boys started baseball/t-ball practices last week, so we have been at the park at least three nights a week. Actually, we have spent LOTS of time at the park. I think we go to the park, on average, around 6 times per week. The boys have loved being able to have picnics at the park and playing with friends and cousins now that it is nice!

Preschool graduation!

Today was Travis' graduation from VIP preschool. Grandma Asay and Grandpa Foulger came to see his big day along with Landon, Christian and I. They had a short little program and then yummy treats! I am happy to report that this time when he introduced himself, he got his name right and didn't call himself Rocco on accident! (Actually, we made sure to practice before we left this morning!) Travis had a great year. He has grown a lot physically, emotionally, behaviorally, and has learned a lot. His teachers, Miss Lori and Miss Carol, are the best teachers and always made him/us feel important and loved! He is really going to miss getting to go to school and socialize with all of his friends. He also made some really great friends and he's excited to go the kindergarten with them! Good job, Travis!
Coming out to line up in their spots.
Their little progam. The songs and poems were so cute! We got a surprise and the kids sang Let it go from the movie Frozen!

Biography Bash!

Last week, Carson's class had a Biography Bash in their classroom. The kids were paired up and wrote biographies about their partner and then read them to the class and guests. Carson was a partner with his friend Weston K. The biographies were funny because they would tend to be similar (in answers)to their partners but were still fun to listen to. After all the biographies were read, they shared their reports about famous Americans while we had refreshments. I look forward to getting to read the biography myself because I couldn't hear it all!

Our week!

Here are a few things we have been up to this last week. We are so happy that Spring has finally arrived and we've had some really nice days! It's crazy to think that May is here and before we know it, school will be out!

The elementary school had their annual art show. Carson and I went so he could show me his artwork and look at the rest of the school's projects.
Carson by one of his pieces of art.

One of our favorite parts of Spring is all the new babies at Grandpa Asay's farm. We went out last week to see the new baby goats. They were so cute! Since we saw these ones, one more baby goat and a lamb were born.!
Such cuties!

Carson and one of the goats. They were so soft!
Travis holding the little crazy eye goat!
This picture melts my heart!

The boys got to help grandpa chase the cows closer to home Saturday morning. I don't think they got to ride as long as they would have liked, but luckily there will be more opportunities to come.
Jan, Kasi and I drove behind everyone in our cars.

This is right after we caught up with the herd. Carson got to ride most of the way to the new pasture.
Travis got to help grandpa on the 4-wheeler and then got to ride once the cows were where they were supposed to be.
Grandma Asay had lots of help driving!
Christian riding behind the herd.

Grandpa found this pretty sweet horn and gave it to Travis. We "accidentally" forgot it when it came time to leave.

Asparagus hunting

For family home evening last night, we went on a hunt to find some asparagus. We must have timed it right this year because we found quite a bit. Last year we went later in the year and didn't have as much success. The first couple of places we tried, we didn't find anything. Once we made it over to our tried and true spots, we were able to find a good bunch. We wished it hadn't been so windy so we could have enjoyed walking around some more, but being together and seeing the boys so excited about it and enjoying the outdoors warmed my heart!
Finding our first bunch!

Our bundle. We met grandpa and grandma Asay on the road and were able to give them some to enjoy too!

Easter Vacation

This year for Easter, our kids had Thursday through Monday off. We had a staycation and did lots of fun things around here. Thursday, we decorated eggs with grandpa and grandma Foulger.  Friday, Grandma Foulger came over and hung out with us for the afternoon. That night, we decided, on a whim, to head out to the hills and look for geodes. It was a beautiful evening and we really enjoyed being outside enjoying it! We were able to find a few geodes, but none of them were very spectacular. The boys thought all the "caves" were really cool and called them all man caves. The one below was the best one!

All my boys hanging out. Christian has one of the geodes we found in his hand.
Saturday, we got ready and headed to Grandma Asay's house for the day. We helped clean up her yeard, had lunch and then the kids did an Easter egg hunt. They had lots of fun finding the eggs and seeing what was in them. After lunch, we worked in the yard some more and when we were done, I took Landon home for a nap while the other boys stayed with Christian and helped out around the farm. When Landon woke up, we headed back out and had dinner and visited while the kids played. Carson, Travis, and their cousin Stetson looked for hours to find any and all bugs they could. They each had quite the collection in their jars that grandma had given them.

Travis and Kandace searching for eggs

Poor Kandace was "lucky" enough to find the egg that Christian took the candy out of and placed a GIANT nasty cricket in(you can see if on the ground by her left foot)! When Jan said he had done it, I thought it was just a little black cricket...not one of these kinds! She was very upset and Christian end up giving her a dollar to replace the nasty bug. She kept saying he was the lamest uncle the rest of the day!
All but little Miss Paige who was sleeping.
Uncle Jared gave the kids a little ride in the loader bucket. Most of them thought it was great. Landon was not such a fan. I actually think he is scared of heights!
Those who were brave enough stayed in the bucket to get an even higher ride!
Easter Sunday, Carson and Travis were up around 8:30 and wanting to find their baskets. We waited a few minutes and then woke Landon up too so they could find their baskets that the Easter Bunny had hidden and still have time to get to church on time.
Carson found his basket by the garage door.
Landon  showing off his new cow he got in his basket that was hidden in the entertainment center.
Travis found his basket on the basement stairs. They were bot pretty excited to have new fishing poles!
All three boys got new goggles to use this summer.
Happy kids!
When the boys were all ready, we tried to do a little photo shoot outside of the boys and their new ties. I don't why it's such a task to take pictures...but it is...every time! Here is the proof:
Making crazy faces without being asked to!

Landon hamming it up!
Super cheesy!
Finally, a semi normal one! Love these cute guys!!
I. LOVE. THIS. FACE!
Landon made a bunny mask in nursery and was modeling it for us all on our way home from church.
Monday, I had a meeting in the morning and then Carson wanted to go visit Grandma Foulger since "it had been forever since he's been to her house."  We had lunch with her and grandpa, looked at their house, and then played tennis for over two hours. After we had dinner, we went down to the pond and let the boys practice casting with their new poles. Between casting and throwing rocks, family home evening was fun for everyone!

On a side note: Last Wednesday, Travis had his kindergarten screening and it looks like he is all ready to go! After his screening, we decided it would be fun to go to lunch with Carson. I try to go to lunch with him once every year and  this year I thought it would be nice for Travis to get to experience it and see how things are going to go next year! Travis keeps asking Carson when he can come and have lunch with him again, so he must have enjoyed it!
Enjoying their lunch!
