Distric Baseball

After the regular season baseball was over, each coach was able to recommend three or four players from their team to try out for the All Stars team and Travis's coach suggested him. They decided on a Friday night to hold try-outs the next morning...which happened to be during a wrestling camp Travis was attending. We went back and forth about whether or not to have him try out (knowing we were going to be gone for a whole week on vacation). Ultimately, we let him try out and miss the first half hour of wrestling camp. He was pretty excited to find out around 1 that afternoon that he had made the team! They practiced for a couple of weeks and attended a tournament in Riverton (which we missed because of a family reunion) and then the Distrit All Stars tournament was held in Lovell.

Their first game they played Riverton, who they had lost to in the previous tournament and took second. They introduced each player before every game and had them take the Little League pledge. They ended up loosing to them 7-2, which put them in the looser bracket.

The team had Thursday off, but played Rock Springs Friday morning and won, which meant they played again that night at 6. They won their game that night against Powell.

Friday, they played at 12, winning that game also, putting in them championship game immediately after the game they had just won.  They ended up having to play against Riverton again, and lost. We had pitched out all our pictchers in the previous games, so that really hurt us. They boys were just super excited to be going to state the next week!

Travis played left and right field and during change in pitchers, the outfielders would hang out together.

Excitement after their win Saturday that put them into the championship and got them a trip to State!

Receiving their 2nd place medals.

Their team will have two more practices and then will play in the State tournament held in Powell starting on Wednesday. Only the top 4 teams in the state will be playing: two from District one (Big Horn County and Riverton) and two from District 2 (Laramie and Gillette). We are by far the smallest community in the tournament, so it will be fun to see how these boys do against some BIG schools!
