Weaning claves 2014

This Saturday, we made the trip up into Dry Head to wean calves. Christian left at 5:30 with his brothers to get started. The kids and moms left around 9:15. We got to the corrals just after the riders left on the second round up. We sat around and visited and the kids played wit their cousins.
Britt and Landon checking out the big guys as they do their work.
The kids had a blast playing up in the bushes. Kandace and Landon  made themselves a fun little "slide" to play on.
Around 1 (I think) the riders came back with the second group and then separated them out while we finished cooking some burgers and dogs.
The second group of cows.

One of the calves got away and they had to chase it.
Separating the cows from the calves.
Loading the calves in the truck to take them back to the farm.

The boys had a good time finding bugs and killing them with the shovel.
Grandpa Asay drove the big truck full of calves from the corrals to the farm.
Tyler and Mike the horses.
After everyone had eaten, the group headed out again for the last time. This time, Carson and Travis got to go out and ride with them. Carson was kind of worried about riding the horse he did, but did a good job.
Travis ready to head out.

Ready to go.
The third group coming in. Carson is on the left in a red hat and Travis is on  the right in the orange shirt.
Matthew, Christian and Emily Snell getting a few stray ones.
One cute little cowboy!

This place is so beautiful!

Carson riding Tyler.

Christian gave Landon a ride right before the they had to load the horses into the horse trailer to head home.

We got back home a little after 6. Christian ended up going back in to get a load of calves with his dad, so the boys and I went to the movie, but probably should have just stayed home and wen to bed! Travis slept through 3/4 of the movie and neither Carson or I ended up really liking it. Oh well!

  1. I decided that Lovell and McCook need to be WAY closer. We could join in all your fun and Jackson could be a real cowboy and not just a want-to-be and I could get helping with cute decorations for my house and not just a want-to-be too!!
