Tackle football

Friday afternoon was Carson's last football game. The two Lovell teams played each other on the high school football field. I'm always thankful to parents who take the time to help out as coaches. Carson learned a lot this year from those that helped out and loved every minute of it! Next year as a 6th grader, he will be able to play with the 7th graders, which he is excited about!

In on the tackle.

He played center quite a bit this season, which was not his favorite, but he's one of the bigger kids right now.

After the game, they had rootbeer floats and gave each kid a medal for playing.

September phone catch up!

The first couple weeks of school, Carson practiced with a 5th grade choir that was asked to sing a song for the 100th Anniversary of the Park Service celebration. The song was recorded and then used as background music in a video that was put together about the Parks in the area.

Here is the link to the video they were in (Scroll down to Earth Anthem):

The  first week in September, the fifth graders got to go to Northwest College Field Camp for an over night campout. They did team building ropes courses, hiked and learned while they were there. Carson had a blast. He was in a cabin with his friend Jacob, which he was really happy about! They got back the Friday of Labor Day weekend. As soon as he got home, we loaded up and made our way to Jackson for the long weekend.
Waiting to load up the bus to head out!

The weekend of Travis' baptism, Megan and Jabin flew in. We spend Saturday shooting guns and hanging out. It was fun to have them here to hang out with and celebrate in Travis' special day!

To celebrate Landon's birthday at school, we commissioned Mikayla to come and show us how to make her famous homemade donuts. It was really fun to see how they were made and even more fun to eat hot donuts!
Cutting out the donuts.

We made monster donuts for Landon to take to share with his class.

This year has been an amazing year for apples. The trees have been super full...definitely a bumper crop this year! The boys have loved being to pick as many apples as they want to eat while at grandpa and grandma Asay's house. They love to pick from the tree right next to the tramp, eat the apple to the core and see how far they can throw them while jumping on the tramp. For family home evening one Monday, we got together with everyone to make apple cider. The boys always love getting to do this and love the cider.

Landon's birthday

Sunday after both sessions of General Conference were done, we had our family over for dinner and cake to celebrate Landon's birthday. We had pulled pork and lots of yummy sides. After dinner, the kids played a bit and then we opened gifts and had cake and ice cream.

Dinner time:

Time to open gifts!

He got a backpack full of fun things from grandpa and grandma Foulger.

Landon only asked for two things for his birthday: a skateboard and ninja turtles that turn into weapons. He couldn't think of anything else when people would ask him what he wanted. He was super excited (and so were his brothers who are having a hard time accepting that Landon has a skateboard and they don't) to finally get the skateboard he had been asking for! Too bad it's been rainy the last couple of days and hasn't been able to use it much.

Happy birthday, Landon!

Weaning calves

We spent all day yesterday weaving calves up in Dry Head. It was a beautiful fall day and we all managed to get a little sunburnt! Christian, Carson and Travis left at 5:45 to head up early to get things rounded up. Landon and I rode up with Emily and her kids and Grandma Asay around 9. When we arrived, the trucks were just getting ready to head out with the first load of calves. The big white truck was leaking fuel the whole way in, so it was only able to take a load out instead of three. They had to leave a big group of calves at the corrals (because it was dark) by Barry's Landing and got back Sunday to get them.

Caron and Christian heading out. Carson's horse was acting up the first round up and he ended up getting bucked off. Christian decided to ride him hard for a while until he settled down. After that, the horse was fine.

Travis rode out to gather 2 times. There is really only one good kid horse, so they all have to take turns.

Landon had a blast playing with cousins at the creek and up in the trees in their fort.

Heading out for round up #2

I always love this time of year up here. The trees are beautiful!

The second round up coming in.

Grandma Asay cooked some yummy hamburgers and hot dogs for lunch!

Michael, Cory Snell, and Grandpa Asay

Landon didn't get to go out on any of the round-ups, but he did get to ride Mike around after we were done with lunch.

One happy/dirty boy!

It was a beautiful day!
