Savage Family Reunion 2013

July 31 through August 2, we spent time with my mom's extended family. My mom and her siblings are really great about holding family reunions every two years. Each time, a different sibling is in charge of planning the reunion. This time, my mom's sister, Karen, was in charge. The boys and I were able to go and camp with my parents while the reunion was going. Wednesday, we met up with my parents at the campground and got things all settled in. We met up with my mom's sister, Janet and most of her family and sat around and talked. That evening, everyone that had arrived already met up at Rose Park for some games, family pictures and dessert.
Part of the group hanging out.

One of my cousins put together this awesome family tree. It needs to be updated, but it's so fun to look at the growth of the Savage family.

Here is my mom and dad's branch. Missing a few, but still fun!

My mom and all her sisters and one brother. Her other one hadn't arrived yet.

And then...their spouses.

Our little group of family.

Aunt Karen explaining how to do one of the relay races.

Travis trying his best at the race,

Grandma and Landon would stand on the curb, count to 3 and then jump.
Saturday, we slept in a bit and then made breakfast. Grandma made the boy's favorite...roll-ups! After breakfast and cleaning up, we headed back to Rose Park to meet up with everyone at the water park. The kids had a blast swimming. There were different sized pools for all the kids to play in along with some slides (which we didn't pay to do but will next time) and a couple of diving boards. After a few hours of playing, we got out, got dressed and met for dinner at the park. After sub sandwiches for dinner, we played some more relay races and games. It is always so fun to watch the games! This Savage family sure knows how to have fun! The highlight of the day was probably the candy buffet that night for dessert. Every family was asked to bring some type of candy to add the the buffet. They kids were in heaven picking out what they wanted to fill their bags with! The night rounded out with visiting and a crazy storm that brought wind, hail and some heavy rain. We were all soaked by the time it was over!
Landon sure has a love for his grandpas. Grandpa Foulger was definitely his buddy during the reunion. They shared a roll up for breakfast in the recliner.
Carson enjoying the pool.

Travis had fun playing under this giant mushroom.

Grandpa getting Landon squirted.

My cousin Carrin, my mom and dad hanging out in the kiddie pool.

The very last thing Carson did before we left the pool was jump off the diving board.

My cousin Kent brought all of his supplies to help the kids make survival bracelets. Travis was super excited to make his and kept asking all day when it was time.

The boys tried to win some bottle cap candies by getting a canning ring on a bottle. It was actually harder than you would think.
Travis and I played Frisbee golf with some of the other cousins at the park.

Waiting for the relay race to start.

Go Carson, go!
Landon hanging out with Grandpa. Not long after this was taken, Landon fell asleep on grandpa's  shoulder.

The candy buffet. The smile on Carson's face says how excited the kids were!

Travis's bag of candy!
This is a look at the storm that hit. It was kind of crazy!

Here we are trying to keep dry in the rain!

Look at all that rain!
Friday morning, slept in once again and met up with everyone at Geyser Park. We spent a few hours racing go carts, doing the bumper boats, mini golfing, laser tag and playing arcade games. Christian showed up the last half hour we were there and got to ride the go-carts once. After our bracelets were up, we went back to the camper and packed up our stuff and checked into a hotel for the night. We thought it would be tight in the camper with Christian there too. After checking in, we drove to Laurel to the church for dinner and the close of the reunion. We had yummy Famous Dave's bbq for dinner and then had people show off their human tricks, played the prop game from Who's Line is it Anyways, and then watched a slide show of pictures from the reunion.
Look, no hands!

Ready to take off. This car was super slow and we got passed by everyone!

Grandma and Carson's turn!

Playing a little mini golf.

Landon finally fell asleep when we were about done.

Some of the group hanging out.

Carson decided to try and and do the bumper boats by himself. He decided it was better to do it with a big person than by himself because they were hard to drive.

Christian and Travis. Christian was pretty excited to get to ride...Travis was super mad that they had to drive the orange one because it was really slow.

driving away.

My mom and all her siblings.

...and their spouses.

The entire group waiting for the slide show to start. There was a total of 117 of us there!
I'm so grateful to belong to such a wonderful family!

Elder Asay

Last Tuesday (July 30th), we said good bye to one of the boy's favorite uncles. Jacob left for a two year mission for our church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. After nine weeks in the the missionary training center, he will then serve in the Ukraine, L'viv Mission. We are excited for Jacob and know that he is going to be a great missionary! He has a strong testimony and is a great person...the people of Ukraine will be lucky to have him among them! The boys are going to miss having him around to play with and hang out with.
The boys getting some last playing in!

Partying weekend

This weekend was full of partying with family. It all started Saturday morning when we went to the Cowley's Days Parade. The boys got tons of candy and enjoyed watching the floats with Grandma Asay and Jared and Jacob. After the parade, we went home, Christian mowed the lawn and then headed fishing with his brothers up in the Shell Canyon for the afternoon. That evening, we had a family dinner at Asay's. They cooked a huge prime rib and a ham that were both yummy! For dessert, we made triple fruit ice cream and blueberry frozen yogurt.
Uncle Jacob got asked to dance with one of the Dollies at the parade.

Landon playing peek-a-boo behind a monument after the parade.

The boys wanted to go fishing with Christian earlier in the day, so he promised them he would take them fishing at Grandpa's pond. Uncle Matthew was the only one to catch anything and it was a craw dad.

My boys enjoying dinner outside.

These four little guys were so cute! They wanted to help make the ice cream. Carson did most of the cranking in the group, but the others were good supervisors!

Uncle Daniel actually did most of the cranking and did a good job! The ice cream tasted wonderful!

Family hanging out.

Landon enjoying some homemade ice cream!
Sunday, was a busy day. We started by attending church in Daniel and Kasi's ward where they blessed baby Paige. After the blessing, we did some quick family pictures. We were all together and probably won't be again for at least two years! After pictures, we went to Sacrament meeting in my in-laws ward where uncle Jacob was giving his "farewell" talk. He was one of 5 missionaries talking that day in the wards in our building, so there was lots of support from friends and the community! Jacob gave a great talk and is going to be a great missionary and we will miss him like crazy! After church, we had naps and then went back to grandma and grandpa Asay's house for dinner with lots of family. The boys were excited to get to be with their cousins, Stetson and Kandace, who they have missed since they moved.
